About this business
John Melhorn started out selling chicks for Dekalb in 1957 after serving in the US Navy. In 1960, as chicken houses began to grow in size, John saw the need to provide full time poultry catching crews. The crews consisted of mostly school kids who were capable of loading 5, 000 birds a night into coop trucks. In 1965, Melhorn's purchased its first truck designated to hauling live poultry. Chickens are piled into cages and cramped! Inhumane and awful to see.
You are inhumane. It’s 2024. Your cages are too small. Do better. So disappointing. Not to mention the feathers stuck to the sides of the cage walls and your truck. Why would you ever think this is okay? For something that brings you so much wealth why would you treat it as poorly and cruley as you do???
Absolutely inhumane and despicable way to transport animals. Their chickens can barely even stand in the tiny crates they're packed in! This company ought to be ashamed of themselves!!
