After years of dealing with Washington Mutual's megalithic inefficiencies, I finally had had enough at the beginning of 2008. After shopping around for a new fiscal model, I settled on the Mechanics Bank as the best possible bank for me. They maintain many locations around the Bay Area and Northern California, plus they pay for all ATM fees charged by other banks (making them a global win in my mind).
