Maynard's was established in 1947 by Al Maynard. Following his service as a Navy Lieutenant in World War II, Maynard worked for Maxwell Brothers Furniture in Rome, Georgia. After working in Rome for a year, he returned to Belton ( his wife's home town ) to open Maynard's Furniture. The first store was 5, 000 square feet, and was located on the square in Belton.
