Uptown Denver Heaven Walking through downtown Denver up to Uptown was an interesting experience. I ended up at Marczyk, and I'm glad I did. This place is Gourmet and (sometimes) organic heaven. There was so much to choose from, I had no idea where to begin. I walked in, turned left, and looked that the various jam, jellies, relishes, breads (olive oil flatbreads? What? Sounds delicious). Then I wander ed over to the candy section for a special treat for myself. Lots of organic and international chocolate. I picked out some H... read more

AMAZING...simply amazing ! This store has grown very close to my heart since moving to Denver, and I have to say it's my favorite place to find deli salads, cheese, wine and the like. Their cheese selection is unbelieveable, with knowlegable employees to boot. They have an entire section of the back store dedicated to wines, with someone to assist you in selecting the perfect pinot, merlot, chardonney to suit your wants/needs. they also offer a beautiful produce section, meat department as well as odds and ends to satisfy ev... read more

Another one bites the dust – Marczyk's used to really stand out. Their quality and selection rivaled even shops of this ilk in Chicago and NYC. Unfortunately, things have completely changed in the last couple of years. The stocking seems to be haphazard, with no rhyme or reason to it. In addition to the downgrading of their cheese section, they also decimated their olive selection and the produce is really almost nil. Yes, they have nice agreements with certain local and organic farmers, which is great, but the selection is ... read more

In its own backwards way, your comment that we are "a neighborhood shop" is a compliment. When we opened, we were serving the weekend cooking warrior, but not the neighborhood. We've made a huge shift to appeal to the neighborhood customer, the ones who can use us 3 days a week and make fabulous meals with high quality ingredients. It was the only way for us to sustain this market. Many of your other comments are interesting: we have the same bread purveyors that we have always had. The wineshop girls actually know alot abou... read more

Downward turn – Sadly, Marczyk is not what it once was. They no longer provide the variety of or service for their cheeses. The butchers are apathetic. And their overall customer service is bordering on rude. This shop was once my favorite.

Business response:

I am sorry you had such a bad experience! Please come see us again. Sincerely, Barbara
