DELISH! – I went to Magnolia today with high expectations, after watching Carrie and Miranda on S&tCity and hearing much about the coveted cupcakes. Although I read some bad reviews, I was blown away by my fantastic cupcake! I went at about 11 and there was no line whatsoever and ordered the most fab cupcake I have ever tasted, vanilla with pink frosting. The service was superb and the cupcake was a little warm, moist and melted like heaven in my mouth! Its certainly worth a visit, maybe not for cakes and such, but definatel... read more

Highprice stick of butter – This cupcake is OVER-RATED! Don't waste your money. We purchased the $2.50 each--cupcakes from 6th avenue shop and took them home to enjoy. There was nothing to really enjoy, the butter cream frosting was hard and thick and basically tasted like a stick of butter mixed with sugar. Biting into this yielded nothing but question marks. The cake part was non-describe, dry and tasteless. Nothing to write home about. Again, an ingenious marketing machine catapulted this nothing-to-rave about cupcake int... read more

Prices have increased more than Saudi crude – Magnolia is really really pushing it. Their prices are growing faster than any metric you could possibly imagine. I admit that I was a bit put off when I first started going there and paid $1.00 or $1.50 for a cupcake, but the meteoric price increases since then signal one thing: this place is intent on taking its customers for all they are worth. If you want to feel ripped off, conned, and manipulated into wasting $3.00 on a red velvet cupcake, look no further than this West Vil... read more

Magnolia Bakery - for the BEST cupcakes in the world!! – I visit NY every year, in October, November or December, and no trip is complete without a visit to the wonderful Magnolia Bakery. Having read some of the reviews on this page, I disagree wholeheartedly with some of the rubbish that has been written here. First of all, the cupcakes served at Magnolia Bakery are far from 'dry'! They are moist and delicious. Indeed, such is the popularity of the bakery that there is usually a queue to get into the store, sometimes around... read more

ew. – All i have to say is it is not worth going to for anything!!! The "famous" cupcakes literally taste like a really dry stick of unsalted butter. I guess if you like eating sticks of butter you would enjoy this place; otherwise, not recommended.

Very very disappointing – Heard about the bakery and wanted to taste for myself even though I was told that it did not taste good. Just tasted the cake for myself was not good at all it was so average it was dry and the icing was hard. Waste of money never going back.

Don't waste your time, ask around! – You've had Betty Crocker right? How about Duncan Hines? Magnolia's Cupcakes are dry, flavorless and the Icing is so sugary I can see Padma on Top Chef spitting it out now! The experience of picking out your very own terrible cupcake is sort of fun but the 45 minute minumum wait is not.... Ask around- New Yorkers are much friendlier than you think and they can all recommend a better local bakery.

VERY Overrated – After all the hype my friend and I finally decided to brave the VERY long line and see if the cupcakes are really all that. Once we got inside the tiny bakery (they were organized with letting only a certain amount of people in at a time) we had to grab a box and elbow our way to the cupcakes that were stacked in the window. It was pretty gross with everyone leaning over and touching the cupcakes. I've never been to a bakery where you help yourself buffet style-especially one this pricey. Also, there wasn't ... read more
