My favourite – I love this bakery so much - one of my favourite places in San Francisco. I go there every weekend.
Good good this place – Good mexican food this excellent
like the chocolate frosting! – I've been to both locations and both are really crowded, but I think it's worth it. The cupcakes I've gotten have all been very moist and I LOOVE the chocolate frosting on the plain cupcake. The carrot and red velvet are also very good though I'm not much of a fan of the cream-cheese-like frosting on those. Overall a fun place to check out.
Most Disgusting Cupcakes Ever – Sorry...what's with the hype?. Do people just say these cupcakes are great just because everyone else likes them. I tried these and I was so disappointed, I really wanted to like these. The cupcakes were dry and the frosting was too thick, sugary and hard. Crumbs cupcakes and the cupcakes from Amy's Bread get my vote, but definitely not these. Please save your money.
Packed – lots of selection
Mediocre Cupcakes – They cupcakes are alright but definitely not worth the hype or the long wait. Go to Butter Lane, Chikalicious or Sweet Sunshine Bakery. They are much much better.
Medicocre – I like that the cupcakes at Magnolia have a retro look, given their cute 1950s size and homemade style, but that's the end of my appreciation. The frosting is sugary and one-note, and the cake is dry and tough (hello...don't overwork the batter, and while you're at it, how about using cake flour if you're not doing so already!!) In short: hype from people who long for a tasty cupcake but don't know what a good cupcake really is. I'd suggest Sugar Sweet Sunshine on Rivington. They do a much better job.
NO GOOD!!! – I have been looking foward to going to Magnolia Bakery for something. When we got to the bakery all of the staff was GREAT!. I orderd 13 cupcakes 2 hot coco's and one small cheese cake. -Cup cakes- OLD TASTING NOT GOOD AT ALL. I feel that people are just sold on the name and not the taste.
