SO disappointed!! – Been trying to get to Magnolia for months...finally went today and it was such a let down....the cupcakes were dry, DRY I tell you. The frosting on the red velvet was nice b/c it wasn't your traditional cream cheese frosting, and the cake itself was a gorgeous red, but it was not moist at all. Also tried the pistachio, and chocolate and both were very dry. So bummed- my fave is still Sprinkle's in LA, and I hear it's coming to NY so look out for that! Butter Lane's was good, Buttercup was dry, and Crumb's... read more
best cakes!! – Love this bakery.. I think its the best in Manhattan!
ok but not as good as I thought – I really wanted to pass by magnolia and buy myself one of their famous cupcakes. The place looks great but the staff is not so nice. There was hardly anty customer there (3 or 4) so not that busy for the cashier. However, they really reminded me of the french waiters, having no interest in making customers feel welcome. This was a strange experience in New York where you are treated so nicely wherever you go. I believe that the place is overated due to Sex & the city. I believe the whole exp... read more
Yall have got to try this place! – Yall the cupcakes in this bakery are to die for! Their carrot cake is great too, and such yummy frosting!! If you have any sort of sweet tooth you need to try this place!!
good but.... – line outside the door for this place?? yes, it's good, but not that good. that proves that people follows hips places like a sheep... Maybe because i am european...
We noticed this bakery with a line out the door. We went there the following day to see what all the fuss was about. I got 2 cupcakes, spend $8 and they were TERRIBLE. Taste like you are eating pure sugar. TEAM ELENI's!!!!
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT – I planned on a Magnolia Red Velvet cake for my birthday, invited many people to share this "special" cake. What a disappointment!! The cake had NO flavor. The vanilla frosting left a greasy taste in your mouth. What a ripoff, $57, don't mind paying for a quality item, but this was not it. Not one guest asked for second piece, nor did they comment on good taste, etc. This is my second purchase, first was cupcakes as other reviews state, they were DRY and overpriced for their lacking. Overrated, hype. N... read more
Love it! – Cliched, but I love this place! Better than Crumbs, at least for me and my friends... With Magnolia, you'll always have a "friend" in NYC :-)
Awful, dry cupcake – I don't know how this bakery's cupcakes became so popular, they are awful. The cupcake is the same size as a cupcake you could bake yourself. The cake is dry and the icing is too sweet. I could buy a box cake mix and can of icing and make a much better cupcake. I wouldn't normally take the time to review something but I feel that people should know that they are being ripped off and that the product they are buying isn't even worth it.
