Wanted to find out for ourselves. – After going completely out of our way and walking 45 minutes we arrived at the quick paced bakery. Being the first time we have gone there, we weren't exactly sure what to do but found the extremely small self serve section and selected 3 chocolate with vanilla frosting, 3 vanilla with vanilla and 3 vanilla with chocolate. Cupcakes are a little on the expensive side for how long you are in the store and for how they taste. We were slightly disappointed that the cake was dry and somewhat or... read more
Buy the cookbook – For those reviewers who have had negative comments about Magnolia, and who also might be interested in making their own, I highly recommend buying the cookbook(s) -- there are now two. Recipes for the cupcakes and all the other famous treats (banana pudding, icebox cake, red velvet cake, etc.) are in there. We have made the chocolate and vanilla cupcakes many, many times now, and they are the best we have ever had. Boxed mix cupcakes pale beside them! One warning, however: these cupcakes are not cheap to m... read more
Sweetness in your hands, best cupcakes ever! long lines on weekends – i love the cupcakes they make there, its small and cramp inside, but it smells like a bakery, you can smell the sugar and baked goods inside. the staff inside is cheery and happy. The line moves, you get in and you get out, unless you're a tourist or its ur first time there. then things slow down. one cupcake is usually enough for me. Their banana pudding is amazing, not too sweet, and just thick enough with nila waffers in it! i've tried most of their pud... read more
best cocont cake and great staff!!! – I love this place!!! The coconut cake is soooooo good. It's sweet, moist and heavenly. I don't know what the rest of the reviewers have against the place but I found the staff to be nice and very helpful. The girl that help me helped try something new, instead of the usual cupcake and I was so glad she did!!! The staff was singing in the store and seemed really happy.... Can't wait to go back.
Believe the hype, these are the best cupckaes ever!! – After being subjected to standing in a ridiculously long line around the block that took 25 minutes to gaIn me entry, everything was well worth it after the first bite into the supremely divine cupcake. I now understand why this place has the cultish following that it does, and deem the long wait well worth it if you have a 1/2 hour to spare for some of the best treats you will ever enjoy. Their chocolate icing on the yellow cake cupcake was my favorite, moist, sweet cak... read more
They are the best cupcakes in the city! Not overly buttery, but perfect consistancy. Not overly expensive-love them for birthdays.
everyone has their own opinion about the cupcakes but the staff is RUDE,RUDE,RUDE,RUDE. & everyone seems to agree. – it's obvious that people have different opinions on cupcakes, & i personally don't like'em. But most people seem to agree that the staff is RUDE! they wouldn't let me sit @ the only table w/ my newborn after i had paid for a coffee and sweet, and they were super rude about it. Mind you no one was sitting @ the table, they had a calculator and some papers on it, they surely could have let me sit there for 5 min... read more
Mag-NO-lia – The cupcakes at this bakery are overly sweet, almost flavorless and often in some stage of staleness.
Crappy Cakes!!!!!!!!!!!! – The cupcakes were pretty much .... awful. After eating through 5 pounds of icing (which was not even tasty), the cake is about the size of "one" bite. Not sure why people wait on line to get in to this place. I would guess it has to do with the "pretentious" types that need to tell their friends that they have been there. In this great city, there are a thousand other places to taste great cakes and sweets. Aside from being a tourist trap, I would not recommend this place to anyone!!!
