They seem very ok with reckless bus drivers. On three different occasions they dismissed drivers running red lights, excessively speeding/swerving, and driving long distances (over 1 mile) with their lights flashing and stop arm out. Their excuse for these behaviors were that they were all substitute drivers who didn’t know what they were doing. So apparently because they’re short staffed, they just allow dangerous driving. Be careful if your children use the Lake Washington bus system.
Lake Washington School District is cheap. They do not invest into their curriculum, school bus system, and savvy online portal systems for parents like other districts do. In regards to the school bus system, other school districts rival LWSD. The faculty and Interim Director of Transportation and his assistants and staff work very very hard to ensure the best for the students of LWSD, even with bussing problems and issues, they are seeking to improve the school bus routes and their efforts should be applauded. Tireless work, but it doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated.
