Cake Not Halal (Was Told It Was) I went in today to purchase a cake and asked the grocery clerk behind the bakery counter( he was south Asian with sparkly studs.) if the Longo’s 8” Le Rocher Hazelnut Cake was Halal. I also asked to see the ingredient list. He told me that yes, it was Halal. After receiving a printout of the ingredients, I read through it and saw that it clearly contained gelatin and other ingredients that are not Halal.
