Cake Not Halal (Was Told It Was) I went in today to purchase a cake and asked the grocery clerk behind the bakery counter( he was south Asian with sparkly studs.) if the Longo’s 8” Le Rocher Hazelnut Cake was Halal. I also asked to see the ingredient list. He told me that yes, it was Halal. After receiving a printout of the ingredients, I read through it and saw that it clearly contained gelatin and other ingredients that are not Halal. Handy, good quality but expensive.
Being a frequent traveler, I don’t like eating out in restaurants every night I’m on the road. Finding a decent store with quality products that I can store and eat using what I have in the hotel room can be a challenge. Finding Longo’s was a blessing and it’s now my go to store when I’m in town. They have great quality produce, including some organic choices, meats, cheeses and plenty more to keep you full if going out to eat isn’t always your thing.
