I had to be in Lexington early this morning, so I dropped by the tax assessors office to file for homestead exemption. I got a great parking space! Even though it was a little before 8 am, I was able to go inside and wait. A clerk noticed me just before 8 and gave me the form, which I quickly completed. It was very courteous and convenient.
They raise the taxes until you can't afford them. TheN some judge buys your house. I believe this year (2025) was 15%. Which is DUMB
I have been residing in this county since 2021 and I own an electric vehicle. In this county you will be responsible for paying property taxes on your personal vehicle . I am originally from another state where we don’t have this issue. My taxes for year 1 was over $900 plus, second year over $600 plus and in 2024, they raised my taxes to over $700 plus. Received my new tax bill and there was an alarming difference owed this year compared to last. Called and talked with Adam and he went above and beyond to help explain how to apply for the exemptions to help lower the tax amount. Feeling very hopeful now. I appreciated his kind support.
