The mission of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley is to provide free, high quality counsel in civil matters for individuals and families who cannot afford to pay an attorney where basic human needs are at stake. Legal Services of the Hudson Valley is the only provider of comprehensive civil legal services to all seven counties of the Hudson Valley including Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, Orange, Ulster and Sullivan.

Truly just awful people. In 2023 I reached out for help and was left to fend for myself against a man who later went to prison for trafficking. The same man is stalking me a year and a half later, and has money to utilize the legal system as a weapon. I called them again last week and they still won't help me. Don't waste your time, no matter what your case is, they won't help. Don't ever, EVER TELL THEM you're LGBT or disabled, they will use it against you.
I had the most outright horrible experience with an attorney named Valen Zeltser stay away from him. By all means he drags court hearings out. On top does not speak out for you, I literally had to stand up for myself inside a court room because I was begging him to say something so I did and I ended up getting what I needed. So why did he even need to be there? He’s the most horrible attorney. The state has to offer and he only has four years of experience.
They helped me out with my divorce. Found me a great lawyer. Everything went smoothly.

I get my Will, Living Will, and Medical Durable Power of Attorney every 5 years. Their staff keeps getting better and better! Also, they did a great job advocated for me when my Public Housing became Section 8.
