I've always found that with a bit of effort, legal aid can really go to bat for you, but they are also limited by they can only act on what they've been "Instructed" on. They do seem to be exceptionally busy for a 'regional' public defendant's (legal aid)office. Also since covid19 appeared 4/5yr ago there doing alot of there business online via zoom calls ect.
