LaVilla is an okay school, some of the teachers are really trying and some are just rude and selfish for no reason at all! I am specifically talking about a certain teacher, Mr Dunn the band director, he's always making students late to their next class with no care for their time and has a watch on his wrist that I know works because I've seen him check it. I personally feel like if you are going to be working with being on time, shouldn't you also be on time to tell your students when to clean up????? Not to mention he is ... read more
Cool school, but how does Mrs Amerson (History) have a reputation for losing students work, and nothing is done about this? Do failing students not reflect poorly on her, and the school as a whole?
If your child is struggling with depression or mental health, be cautious — the teachers here can be just as much of a problem as the students. The bullying culture doesn’t stop with the kids; some of the staff contribute to it. The principal and school counselor are completely unhelpful and dismissive. Don’t be fooled by the “private school” label — that doesn’t make it a better environment. I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you want your child to feel supported and safe.
The teachers at this school are bullies, and their behavior has seriously affected my daughter’s mental health. The staff is consistently disrespectful, and the principal enables this toxic environment. The school counselor does not take their role seriously and is essentially a joke. So many parents have pulled their kids that the School Choice Office is aware of the issues. Do not send your child here—look elsewhere for a safe, respectful learning environment.
Teachers are good but I had to pull my child out due to there being a lot of LGBT and THERIAN kids going there. My 6th grader stated that she felt like it was being forced on her from the children there. I know we live in different times and all but I'm just glad she was able to talk to be about and tell me she felt very uncomfortable.
