I had trauma counseling here, after being encouraged by a friend. She was in bucks county though so i feel their program may be different. Just because I don't know how to talk about my trauma I still matter. Their counselors are usually graduate students... it's hard to imagine their having true empathy for people in these situations... it's nice what they do but as someone who has gone through some horrible stuff their program unfortunately didn't work for me and just made me feel bad for even trying.

Any organization that helps women I’m going to be in full support. I did the 5k today and it was beautiful to help victims of DV by giving back. What was a tad frustrating and something we often see even in the media is the lack of empathy for minority women abused. I saw many posters of “in memory of” women who have sadly left this earth due to DV but they couldn’t even show one woman of color- as if we are immune to DV. This place turned my friend and her child away because she was temporarily staying with me while she was trying to get away from an abusive situation. They offered zero assistance. These people do not care. After being recommended and advised about all the great resources Laurel House has to offer just for her to immediately be rejected a safe space is a huge disappointment.
