We visited Nelson for an extended period in the fall of 2025, and we joined the Kootenay Carshare Cooperative so we could travel around the interior during our stay. It's a fantastic, well-run co-op with friendly, helpful staff. We borrowed the newer electric car for local trips, and we used the older Honda Fit for a trip to the dinosaur museum in Drumheller, Alberta. I have been a member of the carsharecoop for seven years or so. As a then single mom with limited income, this membership helped me access a variety of vehicles to a reasonable price. There are no surprises in my mechanics costs! It is easy to book and use, maintenance is excellent. The cars are spread out in town and if a car is not up to standard the team gets a new one. Do not trust these people to take care of there vehicles!!! The Brown F-150 they have is DANGEROUS!!! The transmission is almost nonexistent on top of everything the steering is stiff and the ENGINE LOSSES POWER with the check engine light on!!! They have multiple cars that are also not safe! On the member page it outlines having to use a screwdriver to remove the key of one of the cars! This company should be inspected by the CVSE… many of there vehicles should be pulled off the road!!!
