My dad has been here for a few weeks. Some nurses are great and some shouldn't be working in nursing. Some have horrible attitude towards family members and residents. Why does it take 3 weeks of asking for a family does laundry sign to be put in a door? Then get attitude for asking about it. So clothes don't go missing? Why do they shut off the alarms for residents and why are residents sitting in their own mess for hours before changing a resident? I brought my wife into this facility for physical therapy due to advanced stage 4 Kidney Cancer. She had been bedridden for over one month and she couldn’t even stand up without the assistance from 2 people. She was there only 2 days and the staff had her standing up and walking with a walker at least 20ft. I would NOT recommend Kittanning Care Center. Since mid-February, I noticed my mom seemed off. They said it was a UTI. By March, she worsened. When I asked her to be sent to the hospital, they assured me they could handle everything there. Communication was poor, and they lost her teeth, always saying they were "working on it." By late March, she deteriorated further. During my visit on 4/1, her call bell went unanswered for 45 minutes. The next day, I insisted she be hospitalized. Hours later, they finally sent her out. If you care about your family at all do not put them in this place! Worst smells you could imagine, totally filthy. It was my father in law, so my husband's family decided to put him in this horrible , disgusting place. Rooms were never cleaned, unless done by family. Had it been my decision he would not have stayed in this place. I begged my husband's family to please bring him home where we could have provided the best care for him without a problem at all.
