In my experience, this mediator did not feel neutral. During our communication, I was repeatedly pressured with statements that I should accept terms because mediation was “saving me tens of thousands of dollars.” Instead of a calm, respectful, non-coercive approach, I often felt ganged up on, talked down to, and that my questions didn’t matter. If I were to use one word to describe Vanessa it would be a narcissist. Of course some narcissists can manage to be successful in their professions but being a family law attorney is not one of those professions! Unfortunately it happened more than once when I would ask a question about a procedural event and Vanessa’s rely would be: “maybe you should find a new attorney” ie how could you possibly question my judgment! The attorney friend who recommended her still regrets it to this day!
