Keybank is an absolute scam. They bait you with these cash promotions for opening an account online but then tell you that you can't open an account online because they can't verify your identity. Funny how I have never had a problem opening a checking account online before. I am a US citizen with a social security number and a valid driver's license. I have been using keybank for 10+ yrs. last week I deposited, in person, a multi thousand dollar check. After depositing the check, I was told that it would be held for over a week. I was not given a decent answer of why. I’ve then received an email multiple days later, stating that it was because there was a “reasonable doubt of collectibility”. oddly, this check came from my employer, who has been depositing money into the same account for over 7 years.
