I watched a resident be allowed to fall over and over and the only thing management would do about it was “remind to use call light.” The resident has dementia. He literally cannot remember to push the button. I refused to be complacent in this. Also, management talked the nurse practitioner to discontinue a residents memory medication cause they were “declining.” But they worsened so much faster without it, which is why the memory med was originally prescribed. I’m a travel nurse & have picked up shifts at no less than 50 & probably closer to 75 facilities all over the state of Indiana over last six years. Ketcham Memorial Center is by far one of the nicest, cleanest, & the staff have been extremely helpful & welcoming me to their facility, which is pretty uncommon due to resentment towards travelers, but that’s not been the case at Ketcham and actually the opposite.
