Let me start by saying that I'm a typical husband and waited until the last moment to get my wife her birthday cake. I called on Friday just a few hours before the shop closed without much faith in being able to get a cake. When I called Karen she asked what type of cake I was looking for. I got a last minute invitation to a small house gathering, asked what I can bring and my host suggested a dish or dessert. I opted for the latter given time constraints, which led me to search out a bakery. Lo and behold, the first resulted in Karen’s Cakes & Cafe Pharr.
