Extendicare could care less about your loved ones. They will give the elderly medication that keeps them sedated at all times. The in house doctor prescribed both Zoloft and Xanax to my 87 year old mother so that they could rip off Medicare and keep her high. Her family doctor was very surprised and I immediately had her removed from them. She is now more aware and awake. These people should be ashamed of themselves! It's truly disgusting. I have never heard anything good about this place. Just heard a story today about this woman's mother dying from respiratory problems (it's common to develop these respiratory problems bc of the terrible care) and this mother was rushed to the hospital. 1 week later she died. Another terrible story has been told to me about this place, a woman that I knew bleed herself to death. Very disappointed with my tour. Expected much more in all areas.
the people are rude and you can walk around for 30 mins before anyone say something to you.
I applied for a Spv. job here recently. They called - set interview with the Adm. we'll call 'J'. I arrived on time, we talked for over 1.5 hrs & interview went well, along with a walk-thru of the facility, which looked 'dumpy' but not terrible. A few days later, I get invited for a 2nd interview - this time with the 'Regional Maint. Mgr' - I show up again & it was like night & day. this 'man' clearly had no professional attitude, clearly didnt want to be there & was very arrogant in questions & tone. This facility is understaffed and some staff members seem untrained. My grandmother has been there for only 3wks and has already sustained 2 fall injuries and deyhdration, all of which required hopspitalization. Her initial evaluation deemed her needing more assistance than the average resident due to a recent stroke. According to Whitestone's adimistrators, they are in ratio of care...then can someone explain how a women who has a complete one sided deficit is left in a chair without observation in her room when she is high... read more
