Old alumni here graduating from the class of 2017. One time, I sent articles to my AP Literature teacher. They were articles on how Herman Melville was thought of to be queer. I was excited about finally having some representation in academia. Afterwards, she treated me coldly when she was happy about my enthusiasm for literature beforehand.
