I would go to them first anytime! I brought them what I thought was a hammered copper trash can, they were extremely professional, educated me and it fetch $1200 at the auction about 3 times more then I was expecting ... turned out it was a Gustav Stickley wine cooler!!! I would go to them first, then gauge other opinions against theirs. AAAAAAAAAA+++++++ All the way!
Seen Better Days... Auctions have never been the same without John at the podium. The current auctioneer is bland, boring, and does not anywhere near the level of professionalism as he should have. Once upon a time, this shop knew how to do business. It's different now. Reminds me of water circling the drain.
A Class Act I saw their ad in Arroyo magazine for free valuation day and went there on a Thursday morning, along some friends with my 2 items to get evaluated. Their receptionist was polite and we were treated to coffee & fresh brownies, along with the other people waiting. After 5 minutes of chatting with folks, I was called in and helped by two of Moran's staff: one for a piece of jewelry I inherited and another gentleman who examined a painting I own.
