I hired John for a four-hour late afternoon session and really enjoyed it. John is very adept at giving guidance with a light touch. I learned a lot and got some great images. Highly recommended.

I just completed my first workshop with John Putnam Photography, Icons of Acadia workshop. I watched many online videos regarding how to take photographs and how to configure your camera's settings, which left me very confused. But, John has a unique way of teaching you the tools you need to adjust your camera's settings while you are taking your shots so you walk away with the photo that you are trying to get. I was one of the participants in John’s “Icons of Acadia” workshop in 2023. Besides the expected (and awesome) classic shots, John took us to places with hidden beauty that I would have just passed by, and was great at that balance of guiding and helping me without just telling me what to do. Workshop also includes sessions with advice and help on processing your photos. I recently completed my fifth workshop with John Putnam and will definitely join future workshops that he offers. This most recent workshop, Canyons of the East, had all the features that have made all his other workshops successful. First, John and his team work incredibly hard to make certain that all the workshop participants have a valuable experience. They do this in several ways. This was our third workshop w/ John and continue to learn new techniques every time. John and Nathaniel thoroughly scout out each potential site before each shoot. They provide great guidance on composition and are always there to answer our questions. The editing and review sessions were fantastic and their one on one assistance helped take our photos to another level!! Always great locations and we can’t wait until our next workshop w/ John!!
