I want to start by saying the staff in the local office are extremely friendly and this is in no way a knock on them. The entire process of paying personal property tax on a car is very confusing and never explained to new residents. If they would mail it out like Virginia does, it would be way less confusing how much is owed and when. I'm stuck with a $59 dollar late fee because of how poorly the program is ran. Very frustrating!

I'm fairly new to the area (3 years) and came from an area where getting anything "official" done was next to impossible. It is so amazing to be in a place where the people who work in a government building are so helpful and help you get things done quickly!

Being required about twice a year, my visits here have all been good experiences. The staff is friendly and quick to help while answering the, at times, confusing questions regarding taxes in West Virginia and more specifically Jefferson county. My visits here often coincide with one or both of the tax office several businesses down and the DMV.
