Joined the Smith Island tour and it was everything that I expected and hoped. Excellent opportunity to explore and shoot Smith and Tangier Islands.
I made the trip to Jay's Photography Workshops in both Kent Island as well as Smith Island - and I would recommend the experience to anyone of any skill level. It's no secret that Jay is an extremely skilled photographer, but what you may not know from the photos is that he is an extremely qualified captain on the water. Jay's photo workshops never disappoint and this one was exceptionally good. I've been to several since 2018 and will continue doing so since the groups are limited to about 5.
My husband and I participated in a photo workshop on Smith Island with Jay Fleming photography June 2025. It exceeded our expectations! It's fascinating to learn about life on these islands in Chesapeake Bay. We enjoyed the group, the food, and the time out exploring the marshy areas surrounding the island. Jay is a great teacher and adjusts his "lessons" to each individual. We felt that we learned so much and look forward to another workshop opportunity.
In June I was fortunate to participate in one of Jay Fleming’s immersive photography classes with Smith Island as the home base for exploring the middle of the Chesapeake Bay. Along with 4 classmates and fellow photography enthusiasts, Jay led us to many special places at just the right time of day to capture memorable images and experiment with photographic technique.
