When i needed to find a new dentist in NE Nevada, i found Dr. Cruzon and his fabulous staff. Although i had been receiving dental care before, Dr. Cruzon and his staff discovered the care i had been receiving was less than what was needed. Two root canals and crowns later with replacement of composite filings, my teeth are in excellent shape. Besides their most diligent and persistent care, i truly appreciate Dr. Cruzon does not over prescribe antibiotics nor does he use narcotics unless they are needed. i was amazed he gave me his personal cell phone in case i needed anything after hours. i am SO impressed with the high quality of care i have received. Thank you for being such a precise practitioner. more »

There are several reasons that we don’t automatically prescribe antibiotics for toothaches. Any time you take an antibiotic you risk developing an allergy to that antibiotic. In the future should you have a true need for that antibiotic, it is not available to you because you are allergic to it. When you take antibiotics, you risk disrupting your bodies intestinal flora as well as risking the development of bacteria that are resistant to that antibiotic. In the medical/dental profession we are cautioned against prescribing antibiotics unnecessarily. This is one of the reasons they are not available over the counter. In the vast majority of cases removal of the offending tooth removes the source of the problem which then allows the body to heal naturally without antibiotics. If there is no fever or facial swelling, which was the case in this instance, antibiotics are not indicated. We provided this patient with my cell # and my wife's cell # so that if there were any postoperative complications the patient could contact us. We also placed a follow up call for an opportunity for them to relay any questions or concerns which was not answered but left a message. When we do not hear from a patient we assume all is well. I am sorry you had this experience but do not know what more we could have done with no contact from you. It was a shock to us to see your review when we had no contact with you about this situation. - Jim Cruson
