I recently retained John S. James to assist me with a very complicated landlord tenant matter and my experience with him was truly awful. He asked for the retainer to be paid up front and was an absolute nightmare to deal with after the retainer was paid. He waits until the very last minute to ask for any information and has his clients rushing to get everything to him due to his lack of timeliness and organization. As long as folks dont lie to their lawyer from the initial consultation, they will get better results. Lawyers cannot "win" or settle a case favorably when clients lie to their lawyers. If a client feels there was a loss, they need to check what lies they gave to the lawyer and what truths were withheld from the lawyer preventing the lawyer from advocating. Lawyers are not bound to promote and reshape lies given to them by clients. Blaming the city (instead of the owner) for declaring an illegally cut up house is not a matte... read more
