This was my first time with Jackson Hewitt. It was easy to make the appointment online for 2 days later. The location was a kiosk like structure in a Walmart near the entrance. The young lady tax preparer had to phone her boss to figure out a couple of things. All in all it was more simple to use a short form. Where as I was used to itemized deductions, and usually got a refund from Federal. I used the first time discount of $149. Otherwise it would be $279. It took about an hour to complete. Person at office was pleasant, but had to call a manager for answers beyond a basic 1040. Manager was slow and not very knowledgeable. There was also a language barrier which made communication difficult at times. It was also expensive- $460.00 for a pretty simple filing. Will use another service next time- especially when new clients get service for $149. How about rewarding loyalty for returning customers?
