I mean it's the IRS. Abolish them
Today we are several days into the Federal government shutdown, waited 47 min. On phone to schedule an appointment. Call center rep said their computer system is down and they can't schedule appointments. If you want to walk-in, it's by appointment only. At least during the shutdown. It sounds like they're doing intakes for new cases. All TaS workers ( for those cases already setup) are laid off. The call center staff is still at work, as is the intake staff (they work by phone, mail and walk-in/appointment)
