Dunno. She, like so many more, hasn't responded. Just as agents judge by proposal letters, authors weigh courtliness against casually dismissive. Mrs Anna Leonowens put my theory to song, "By your students you'll be taught."

Irene has been my agent for the past 20 years. She is always fair, responsive to her clients, communicates with us in a timely fashion, and shares her opinion candidly, even if it's not always what authors want to hear. Her job is to hone and further our careers, and to be a cheerleader when it's appropriate -- but not to be a sycophant. She is an excellent agent, and through her years of experience knows the market and what various editors are looking for.

The five star ratings are obviously from people who are friends of the company. Everyone has a right to their own opinions. I encourage inspiring authors to try them out for yourselves and judge for themselves as I did.

Doing the same thing as the second rating. No idea why there'd be a one star for no reason, but that doesn't seem right.

I gave this rating as a 5 because there was no explanation for the only other rating which was a 1. Did this agent sign someone to a contract and just shuffle them down to their priority list and ignore them? Was there an actual reason for this 1 rating or did someone get a parking ticket in front of Irene Goodman's building and seek a bit of revenge with a bad Google review......
