Solid Indian Food! India House has to be some of the better Indian food available in Rochester. The environment is quaint and homely and the staff is modest and friendly. The food itself is nothing spectacular but it is solid and never bad. The prices are good and the location is very accessible if you are in school or work in center city
Love the food here! I am vegan and they have a couple of vegan options. I always order take out and they are fast!
Worst indian ever – Worst Indian food ever. I have been eating indian food for over 25 years, in England, Ireland, Spain, NYC, SLC, and even syracuse, liverpool, and clinton in upstate ny. I found the service to be good at first, and decor was fine, I could see by the lack of tapestry on hard wall how it could become loud in there quickly once busier. Great Lunch Buffet – This is one of my favorite places for lunch. The buffet offers a variety of options and I always leave full and satisfied. The wait staff is also professional and courteous.
Truely Awful – Against my better judgement, my wife convinced me to try this restaurant with some guests we had visiting. We tried 4 different vegetarian entrees. Three of them were below average, being bland and oily. The fourth was actually "off" as in not fit to eat. They refused to agree with us that it was unfit to eat (although they admitted it had been made 2 days prior), and would not take it off our bill, so we had them bring something different. Not to be missed – The India House is Rochester's best kept secret. It's cozy, romantic, tasty & fun. Lots of vegetarian dishes on the menu, as well as a separate vegetarian cafe across the street. The service is quiet, prompt, courteous & thorough. The chairs could be a tad more comfortable. For those who arent familiar with indian food, be sure to make the India House your first stop & you will not be disappointed.
