Always check your receipt. I was checking out and the cashier handed my change. He was teen, blond (yes I’m ratting on you, I’m a very petty person.) and look like a new recruit so I made sure I would keep a close eye on my receipt after. After I finished, I go outside and look at my change and match it with my receipt. Sure enough, I was short exactly 5 dollars.
