Over the weekend I walked the trails in the park in Springfield Gardens, Queens. I liked how the city fades fast and you’re on long, almost deserted paths. In spots it feels truly wild—few people, brush along the edges, big open views. No frills, just walking and the wind, which is exactly what I wanted. And it’s still within the city, so getting there was easy. The trails are straightforward, easy to keep a steady pace and loop around. A solid place to clear your head and feel a bit off-the-grid without leaving town.
This isn’t really a park so much as a nature preserve. Lots and lots of mosquitos. Just one path really.
Trash on parking area. Dismal appearence.
