I was disappointed by the lack of communication and the lack of guidance from Ian. He didn't try to understand our business nor our goals for seeking a patent. He never discussed any options, which we later discovered could have helped greatly, probably because he didn't spend the time to understand how the patent fit within our business. When we tried to offer some feedback, he became defensive, so we terminated our project with him.

After a multi-year process of pursuing a patent on a simple mechanical device, my company decided to cease work with Ian Burns. Ian had outsourced our patent work to a person in Australia and we were unsatisfied with the quality of work being done, lack of communication, and misrepresentation of our product to the U.S. Patent Office. Takes weeks of back and forth emails to get any appointment set up at all. Ian had me super excited when I talked with him Initially and very confident. But as I I tried working with him as far as getting a Letter of Engagement he never mailed it like he said he would. He emailed it to me finally. Then I tried making a phone consult with him to talk to my financial partner and after weeks of trying to get him to respond and make the appointment I gave up. His Paralegal was the worst.
