Warning Do not, I repeat, open an account here. They are stuck in the 1974 mentality and charge overdraft fees as much as they can. This by far is the worst bank in the United States.
Fist Merit.. Chase freedom! Fist Merit!! I am making it my new career to get as many people to close these accounts as possible. Ever call acct line to hear that you have a million gazillion dollars to go overdraft a $2 speedway hot dog with? Mysteriously, a check written 2 weeks earlier came through THE DAY 6 <$5 charges hit. Branch Manager Christine is rude, unhelpful I think they suck! They had been depositing a certain type of check for me until one day when I showed up at 4:55, with checks set to clear that night, and they informed me they've changed the rules and they can no longer accept my deposit. I was furious, the next day I had over 100.00 in bounced check charges.
Disgusted with banks I agree..They have hit us with overdraft charges only because they are too slow to clear checks. As soon as my last check clears, I am outta there and hiding my money under my mattress..
I'm glad I'm the first to review #1, they direct deposited my payroll checks into someone else's account for over 2 months straight. #2, they never sent me a "paper" bill in the mail, I don't know how many times I had to call and change my address with them, and it never got changed until after my account was closed. #3, they charged me for late fees and other random charges that were never warranted, or were caused by their mistakes (see payroll incident, + many others) #4, my account has been closed since early this year (... read more
