I had a disappointing experience. I came in to have a copy of an important document notarized. Instead of asking a few questions or explaining what was and wasn’t legally allowed, I was simply told that it couldn’t be done. Afterward, I learned that while an Ohio notary cannot notarize or certify the copy itself, there is a process where the document owner signs a statement, and the notary notarizes that statement and signature.
