The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is a limited admission shelter. We only accept animals that we feel we can adopt. We do not take in stray animals. They need to be taken to the county facility where their owners can look for them.We are a “No Kill for Space” shelter. That means our shelter will not euthanize an animal to make space for another animal. I adopted a kitten a few months ago. Got him home and he was sick with excessive sneezing. He was also a little heathen with mommy issues. Ended up returning him 3 weeks later. We then adopted another. Got her home and once again another sick cat. Got 1 more and wouldn’t you know it? Yup, you guessed it. Sick. Had a 8am appointment today and somehow an entire waiting room and then some came and gone. One lady had a appointment at 9:15 and she is called at 9:20. Still waiting and finally my turn. So now I wait forty minutes in another waiting room. And I was just there for a follow up that took less than 5 minutes. They do a great job fixing stray cats. But to go there for an appointment out of the question.. Poor management at its finest.
These people don’t give a fuck about ur animals. They are disgusting. Do not trust them!!! Friend surrendered a cat and they called back one day later and said they can’t adopt out to come pick up. She dropped off car with carrier and a massive bag of toys and an closed bag of new food. They brought the cat out to her, spayed with no meds, no collar, no leash, no carrier, no toys.
