Update 5: After the manger issued an embarrassingly small cheque without my approval, I tried to contact them. It has now been a month since that contact and they are ignoring the issue, again. I was advised by a legal professional to take this directly to head office and file a formal complaint against all the parties involved. Update 4: They didn’t even refund 50% of my payment. I tried calling them multiple times now and keep being told “we will get back to you” only to be further ignored. Extremely unprofessional. Will keep at it and see if it takes them another few months to care about their customers. Final Update: Essentially, their head office agreed that I was grossly over-charged, then proceeded to rudely insist that H & R Block (a billion dollar company) did not have the funds to fully refund my money. After calling them on 5 different occasions, they finally agreed to give some of the money back. I would highly suggest you take your business elsewhere. I know I will never be returning. I paid almost $500 for spending maybe 45 minutes with the tax person who assisted me and apparently I got the “new client discount”. And this for a very simple tax return. This cost way more than I even go back for my tax return, and was not worth the money at all. The tax person I spoke with (though he was very nice) unfortunately did not explain the pricing at all and often seemed confused about what he was doing with my return, initially telling me it was a professional not business account, and then changing his mind.
