Booked with H&R Block for the first time as I wanted to compare what sort of return/payment I'd get vs filing them myself as I attempted the filing myself online prior to coming in to compare numbers. When first booking the appointment I searched the website to try and get a better understanding of what I could expect to pay for the service however could not find any details or description at all on their site so I tried calling their office to speak with someone in person. My tax filing was smooth, but the receptionist left a bad impression. She was straightforward with me, not rude, but I saw her being very disrespectful to an elderly woman, likely in her 70s or 80s, who had trouble hearing. She shushed her and raised her voice, which was upsetting. I also saw her yelling at another customer on my way out. Overall, not a pleasant atmosphere.
I have not completed taxes with H&R block in years. Yet this year they set up a random bank account for me and my tax return was directed to this new account instead of my standard bank account. I am being charged fees to transfer the funds to my regular account.
Terrible experience, felt like she was trying to get us out the door as quick as possible. Did not answer any of the questions we had. And an insanely high price for doing such basic work. If you have only a T4 and T5 DO NOT use a “Tax Expert” do it online
