I hate giving anyone one star, but I was so disappointed in my taxes that were done by Ashley Costello. I “won” her services at a silent auction and I was afraid I wouldn’t be taken seriously - and I wasn’t. We file clergy taxes which are complicated. She assured me she could do it. I went to H&R Block for the first time in a few decades thinking they'd take care of my needs for a reasonable price. I was incredibly wrong. The price was literally, out of this world expensive. Luckily, they look over your taxes then give a price to give you the option to continue with them or not. I decided not to continue and there was no penalty. Upfront & Transparent pricing? We were told that our two W2s was a simple tax service ($95), and we were quoted for this. Got to the end and were upcharged to a "complex" tax return ($140) because there was one bank interest form (1099 Form) that takes 5 seconds to input... and that we were already charged $30 separately for. Plus $70 per state w2.. Just seems like a lot of double charging, mainly due to the bank interest earned. Even the manager couldn't justify it.
