Widowed in 2024, I was advised to file with Chrissy by a long-time friend who retired from H & R block. Medical expenses for my late husband would outweigh the standard deduction. Chrissy sent me home - no charge - saying I didn't have enough to meet the standard deduction. Today, Social Security said I must file because the joint income was over the minimum thresh-hold. A disappointing addn to months of grief and financial tasks.
