I had a deeply disappointing experience with H&R Block this tax season, and I feel compelled to warn others. First, my tax documents were completely mishandled. I brought them in carefully organized, but when they were returned, they were in disarray—some even missing. This led to delays and unnecessary stress. Allie did fine. Efficient meeting. Everything looked correct. The $260 fee was a little excessive for what they did and I was not offered a discount. However, I have no other issue with the tax preparer.
DO NOT DO YOUR TAX RETURNS HERE! Worst experience ever. My initial return was missing more than $15K in deductions (which I had to point it out and go personally to get it redone). 30 days after they "submitted" my return I received a notice from the IRS charging me $250 penalty for a filling late! I emailed the person who submitted my return and to this date, have not heard back. ABSOLUTELY one of the worst experiences I have had with a business. Normally we just us TaxCut for our taxes but this year there were a couple of quirky things on our taxes that in addition to making sure we did things right I wanted to get some general info about how to better plan for the coming year. I am highly disappointed. I got an email the night before tax day asking if I signed with someone else. No I had you do my taxes on the 3rd of April only to find out that you never submitted them. Went in last night the 15th and was told they were submitted now, but I still don’t have any confirmations from the IRS or anything. First and last time I pay anyone to do my taxes for me.
