For my adult, autistic son: I called, explained his financial/tax documents and scheduled an appt. I was told preparation would cost $100 - $200. My tax preparer did not disclose the $405 total cost until the end of our appointment when the return was complete. I've called, complained and been assigned a case number. NOTHING. Further, I found an error on the federal return. An amended return was filed. No additional refund yet. Last, I found out today that one of the state returns was filed incorrectly. I don't see any reason to pay over $400 to get my taxes done at h&r block. They truly will prepare your taxes. If you have any problems with the IRS, then h&r block cannot help. They are just as mystified and in the dark when it comes to the IRS as everyone else. Next year 2023 I'll be doing my taxes on the free websites. Because the so-called tax professionals are only data entry personnel entering numbers into a computer. There was no benefit to going to dim and I'm out $400.
