I was charged $467 just to be denied the $4,000 advance loan. The tax professional who assisted me was very kind and knowledgeable. Still, the shady business practice of charging me an exorbitant fee to “qualify” for a loan that was ultimately denied has soured the experience significantly. I could have filed my taxes for free through other options such as the IRS, myself, or veteran offices. I could have even spent less than $100 doing it on H&R Block’s online tool. Our 2023 taxes were processed incorrectly! Supposedly we owed over $2,000! When we had our taxes reprocessed, we owed NOTHING!! I DO NOT trust H & R Block to get "the lowest refund, GUARANTEED!!!"
You WILL pay much more than you expect. Ask their price immediately, state the documents you will be filing so they can tell you the quote upfront. Do not let them scam you into filing your taxes in their system. You will be billed out and you are going to lose much more money than filing your taxes yourself, and the employee might be barely trained.
