Two years ago HR Block made a mistake in my tax filing resulting in a $10k capital gains mis-calculation. Although I paid $350 for my tax return, I was only just reimbursed the penalties I was charged following the 1040-X correction. Had a brother who passed away in June who had an H&R emerald card. I sent in all the information requested and as the claimant i was told that a single check would be sent so I could pay off any debts my brother had, but since there were names on the affidavit and how it was to be divided if anything was left, they divided it out and sent individual checks making it hard to collect to pay his bills. H&R Block’s Wave Accounting, without my permission and in error, withdrew $4,000 from my bank account 4 months ago. They promised reimbursement and failed to deliver. After weeks of no response, followed by weeks of telling me the money had been refunded, they finally admitted that no refund was ever issued. Now Wave claims the money is “gone” because it was allegedly sent to the IRS—without providing evidence.
