I applied for an auto loan with Hope Credit Union and it has proved to be one long massive headache. The underwriting team at Hope Credit Union lacks an understanding of basic concepts of personal finance (for example, the difference between income and assets, standard recommendations for the amounts individuals should keep in their checking/savings accounts as emergency funds, basic saving and investment concepts, etc.). They closed during Covid 19 crisis and never opened back up and cannot tell you when they plan on opening back up. I tried to deposit a check but they were closed and no cars in the parking lot. I have called 10 times and get a person who says I would have to talk to a manager. They try to get the manager on the phone then come back and say they are not in and ask me to leave a message on their voice mail so I do leave a message every time.
