I lived there 4 months and did not get no housing Sad so heartbroken
I got the call to start counseling 6 months after I first arrived and 4 months after I left. The children's play area was promised to be open according to a calendar but hardly ever was I would say it was open about 2 weeks of the two months I was there. Shelter staff yelled at my autistic child even after I provided them info sheets about his type of autism and I believe we were treated differently than others there because of my child's autism. Should probably get new advocates. Not sure who I spoke to but she was rude and very unhelpful.
They are not deaf-friendly! I was at a women's shelter and felt a lack of support from them; they didn’t want to help me. I even went to the hospital and was shocked when Heal and Hope showed up to "help" me as a survivor. I gave them a chance, but they ghosted me again, just like before.
You have to know what you want here, and ask after those things often if you want to see movement. Currently, this organization is well managed and effective but has a large amount of persons entering and exiting which in my opinion has complicated the efficiency and speed of assistance to clients.
