The bicycle mechanic/manager/owner diagnosed and "magicked" a solution to an issue with the rear wheel rim strip. The magic being a combination of expertise, creative problem solving, and expediency. In less than 10 minutes, this gentleman fixed the issue with the rear wheel and tube stem that had for months stymied me and my many attempts at repair. It's that kind of LBS (local bike shop) customer service and knowledge that builds a loyal customer base. Solid five stars.

I had noticed my rear wheel was pulling away from the drive under load and suspected bearings or axle issues. Having messed up a bearing job on a previous bike I pulled the wheel and headed over to HMS to let someone who knew what they were doing look at it. I was immediately greeted and the wheel taken back to the bench. I stepped out to do some grocery shopping and they gave me a ring telling me it was the axle that snapped and they were looking to see if they had a spare one. Brought my bike in for a minor derailleur adjustment. The mechanic spent an hour "fixing" the issue, only to completely ruin the alignment. After his repair, the gears wouldn't even change. When I returned, he tried to brush me off near closing time. Another shop fixed everything in 5 minutes, proving the original problem was simple. Save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere.
Walked in one day because I was passing by and as soon as I asked about e-bikes The owner stood up and walked right past me out the door, so he wouldn’t have to talk to me. Wow. I get that some people are not into e-bikes. This is one of those shops. If you're shopping for an e-bike, consider companies that sell ONLY e-bikes. Because shops that carry both, often RESENT e-bikes. NONE of the guys working at this particular shop knew ANYTHING about e-bikes.
